It all began in 2018, when Cantina Merano unveiled  the Brut Riserva “36” – a sparkling debut that brought new elegance and finesse to South Tyrol’s wine-making stage.

Now comes the next chapter. A creation born from time, patience, and devotion: Sparkling Wine Extra Brut Riserva DOC 2018. Its name tells a story — of 72 months resting on the lees, of slow transformation and quiet perfection. Each moment, each bubble, shaped by care and passion. The result is a sparkling wine of captivating depth: a fine, persistent mousse, refined aromas, crisp mineral freshness, and a whisper of fruit that speaks unmistakably of its Alpine home. Every sip reveals emotion and craftsmanship, the meeting of precision and soul. The Extra Brut Riserva “72” is not just a wine — it’s an experience, a moment to be savored, shared, and remembered.

Vinification:

Gentle whole-cluster pressing with natural sedimentation. First fermentation in stainless steel tanks and tonneaux, ageing on fine lees for 8 months, tirage in May 2019, disgorgement after 72 months of bottle ageing, available for sale from November 2025.

Wine & Food:

Perfect as aperitif, for light appetizers and fish dishes. Should not be missing at any festivity.

Tasting notes from our winemaker:

APPEARANCE: greenish-yellow with golden shimmer
ON THE PALATE: taste of bread crust, with a light yeast note and touches of pine-apples, green apples and vanilla. Fruity and fine aged, with a crisp acidity and a fine-grained perlage. Harmonious, with an irresistibly endless finish.

Wine storage:

Store bottles lying down, in a dark place at a maximum temperature of 15°C.
Humidity: ideally between 50–70%.
Odour-free cellar, as foreign odours can affect the wine.
