The AMADEO liqueur wine of the Cantina Merano Winery, newcomer of the excellent line of rarities, can absolutely be called the latest masterpiece of cellar master Stefan Kapfinger. This special meditation wine impresses with a perfectly rich, round and spicy flavor and a fine, harmonious sweetness. The essence for this liqueur wine has been obtained using the highest quality, extremely ripe Merlot grapes that are sourced from a steep vineyard site practicing strict yield reduction. AMADEO is Cantina Meran Winery’s successful interpretation of the famed Portuguese port.

Vinification:

After the mash has stood for a period and following alcoholic fermentation, the process of fortification is undertaken in the cellars through the addition of high-proof brandy. Interrupting the fermentation process, the residual sugar confers on this special essence a characteristic sweet flavor. Furthermore, the relatively high alcohol content gives the AMADEO liqueur wine its extremely long shelf life. This distinctive wine ages for at least 6 years in specially selected barriques in the renovated cellars of. The maturity conferred by several years gives this liqueur wine its particularly rich, aromatic flavor.

Tasting notes from our winemaker:

The color is dark ruby red. The bouquet reminds scents of wild berries and plums; followed by hints of nuts, marzipan and dates on the palate. The flavor is soft and juicy, with a slight hint of wood and fine, very soft, well-integrated tannins.
